Nurburgring: 8:04 mins
the R8 didn´t break through the magic 8 mins. barreer even with its optionla Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres, the high traction and the save handling. The steering could be more precise with less understeer, it suffers from the more comfortable than sporty suspension. The optional ceramic disk brake shows an outstanding performance.
Hockenheim short track: 1.12.7 mins
the setting is a bit indofferent, again it shows some understeer but can easily be controlled with the throttle. The 4WD offers a lot of traction the R8 can take advantage of at the exit of a turn. The R8 offers a pefect handling, the limits are very heigh so that it alwys feels save and comfortable

acceleration and brake test:
0-200-0 km/h: 20.9 secs., same as Aston martin V12 Vanquish and Lotus Esprit Sport 350
0-200 km/h: 16.2 secs. 200-0 km/h: 4.7 secs.
the optional cermaic disk brake is not better than the standard steel brake but it shows much less fading
aerodynamic balance:
7 kg uplift and 1 Kg downforce at 200 km/h at the front/rear axle, Cd = 0.35, could be better tbut the air intakes at the front and the rear are resonsilbe for that resistance also limiting the acceleartion form 200 km/h to top speed, seems a bit slow
max lat. accelration (skidpad): 1.3 g
thanks to the grip of the optional Pirelli P ZTero Corsa tyres

It was slower than a Skyline GTR? HAHAHAHA
Long separated by cruel fate, the star-crossed lovers raced across the grassy field toward each other like two freight trains, one having left Cleveland at 6:36 p.m. traveling at 55 mph, the other from Topeka at 4:19 p.m. at a speed of 35 mph.

Verdict:
due to its sporty exterior the Audi R8 is no understatement at all but it also didn´t meet the high expectations as far as driving dynamica are concerned. But this si the 1st shot of Audi in the supercar league and it already has reached the level that was reserved to Porsche before. It is no high flyer but a perfect sports car and daiyl drive. I only takes some minor modifcations to become more hardcore.

Audi made it this way to make more $$$
then they'll have the excuse to make an RS version

What you want to do is talk to Raul at OG Audio. He hooked me up with three memphis 15s.

I don't think the performance warrents the price. You really could have a 997t for the price of a R8 with similar equipment, which has so much more development and all the cross country ability, is more practical, and is just so much faster.
Sorry VAG. It's just not worth it. At all. For a hotted up TT.

The 997 Turbo is significantly more expensive than the R8 - 70k more on the Aussie market.
Also, I recall seeing a comparison posted here where the R8 was rated higher than the turbo and put down faster lap times.

well, reviews have compared the 911 Carrera S and TT and C4S to the R8 and they have been all over the place. some have said the R8 is better than the Turbo, some have said its not better than the Carrera S.
it simply boils down to the fact that a potential buyer has to go test drive it and see whether or not HE likes it or not. they wont be looking at magazine tests when they are buying their cars.
saying the R8 is a "hotted" up TT is like saying the 911 Turbo is a hotted up boxster.

The R8 is hardly a hotted up TT.
