here it is, the sport auto Supertest of the Ferrari 5999 BTB Fiorano, full specs and track test at the Nurburgring Nordschleife and the Hockenheim short track:
Nurburgring Nordschleife in 7:47 mins.
here the F 599 GTB lines up with the (more powerfeul) Lamborghini Murcielage LP 640 and the (muchh less powerful) Porsche 997 GT3 RS and beats the Corvette Z06 to 2 secs.
the suspsension of the 599 GTB, with a perfect set-up for the daily driver, also works well at the race track even though it is coming to its limits, it could be a bit stiffer.
Steering and handling is very precise, the lap times speaks for it self.
Hochenhein short track in 1:12.0 mins.
here the Lamborhhini Murcielage LP 640 and the Porsche GT 3 RS are slightly faster than the huge and heavy F 599 GTB but it beats the Mercedes CLK DTM ATM to o,5 secs.
even though it´s size and weight, the 599 GTB shows an outstanding performance, also outstanding the achievement at the track. The semi-automatic transmission works as perfect as the brakes, the handling is perfect, no overtseer at all. There is so much grip at the rear axle that there even is a tendency for understeer, with 620 bhp, no bad omen
0-200-0 km/h in 15.9 secs. 0-200 km/h in 10.8 secs. 200-0 km/h in 5.1 secs.
Mercedes SLR McLaren and Pagani Zonda F are slightly faster but it beats the Lamborghini Murcielago LP 640 to 0.2 secs.
thanks to the launch control, the 1748 kgs heavy beast accelerates from stand to 100 km/h in 3.6 and to 200 km/h in 10.8 secs. The spund is breathtaking and the semi-automatic F1 transmission is unbeatable, pretty much like the semi-sequential of pure race car.
the grip is extremely high due to the rear differential with variable lock rates
aerodynamic
Cd = 0.33 41/24 kg uplift in front/rear at 200 km/h
as there are not that much visible aerodynamic helping devices except of the huge rear diffussor, the 599 GTB is well balanced. CD of 0.33 is bit high, better figures can be achieved at the Ferrrai wind tunnel with rolling ground rather than the static Mercedes wind tunnel
max. lat. acceleration: 1.3g
same level as the Audi R8, Z o6, Ford GT or the LP 640
seems that the specially for the 599 GTB made Pirelli P Zero tyres are not that much different from the Corsa specs, also the wet handling is pretty much the same, expalins why it lines up with the others as mentioned above
specs:
620 PS at 7,600 rpm 608 Nm at 5,600 rpm 5.999 litres 103.4 PS/litre compression 11.2:1
gear ratios 1st: 3.15 2nd: 2,18 3rd: 1,57 4th: 1,19 5th: 0,94 6th: 0.76 axle: 4,18
tyres: Pirelli P Zero, 245/40 ZR 19 in front, 305/35 ZR 20 in rear
MSRP: 225,310 EUR plus options: carbon brakes: 15,710 EUR Scuderia Ferrari logos: 1,535 EUR Carbon Kit I: 4,715 EUR Carbon Kit II: 4,700 EUR passenger airbag on/off: 465 EUR leather ceiling: 395 EUR Bose sound system: 2,620 EUR Recaro sports seats: 3,155 EUR Price as tested: 258,805 EUR
weight: 1,748 kgs power-to-weight: 357.14 PS/ton weight distribution: 48.1/51.9 % in front/rear
acceleration:
0-100 km/h 3.6 secs. 0-160 km/h 7.2 secs. 0-200 km/h 10.8 secs.
80-120 km/h 3.5/5.0/7.0 secs. in 4th/5th/6th gear 100-160 km/h 6.9/9.8/13.8 secs. in in 4th/5th/6th gear
Vmax: 331 km/h
handling
18 m slalom: 68 km/h 36 m slalom: 133 km/h
slightly slower than the LP 640 and the GT3 RS, same level as ther Ford GT, slightly faster then the R8 even though to it´s high weight
the direct steering helps to direct exactly into the direction you want, the adaptive dampers helps to keep it on track
evasion test 110 m: 145 km/h
perfect handling, perfect balance, high stability even though the LP 640, Ford GT, CLK DTM AMG are faster much/slightly faster
braking 100-0 km/h in 35.6 m 200-0 km/h in 140.4 m
wet handling track 1.31 mins.
again the specially for the 599 GTB made P Zero tyres show nearly the same wet handling as the Corsa spec tyres, more optimized for dry handling and drag
the tyres offer more grip when they are warm, when cold they 1st show some understeer and some sudden oversteer, good to have eletronic helpimng means such as launsh control ESP
verdict: 72 out of 80 pts.
same as the Porsche 997 Turbo, 2 pts. less than the Pagani Zonda F but 3 and even 3 pts. more than the Ford GT or Corvette Z 06
one doesn´t have to be a fanboy or impressed by Ferrari´s racing heritage to become addicted to this super sports GT
it is the engine and it´s sound what takes you into the ban, revving up the enourmous V12 is one of the highlights, orgasm for the ears
the semi-automatic is one of the best transmissions ever
the F 599 GTB is no diva, no prima donna, a datly driver with no complications, not like so many Ferraris before, it is more comfortabe and performs much better

Yeah but it's just as fast as the GT3 RS around the ring.

This is a heavy GT car & Ferrari did in fact up the game.
I'm salavating thinking about the F60's performance!!!

Yeah but I still think it's silly, they are obviously afraid it wont be as fast as they want it to be.

But the 911 GT3 RS isn't a car to be compared with this one. The F430 S is the car the 911 GT3 RS is going to compete with.

it really stole the SLR's Thunder
Long separated by cruel fate, the star-crossed lovers raced across the grassy field toward each other like two freight trains, one having left Cleveland at 6:36 p.m. traveling at 55 mph, the other from Topeka at 4:19 p.m. at a speed of 35 mph.

Even if the GT3RS were faster, I just really don't see myself ever buying one over this car, possibly if it were mostly going to be a track car. And, someone who can afford a 599 can probably afford a GT3RS too.

The LP640 is clearly Lamboraudi's way of copying Ferrari's future supercar, coming out in 2014. THIEVES

Wrong, because the GTR RS is seriously underpowered compared to the F430 S. It's also a lot less expensive. The new GT2 will be the F430 S it's rival.

I agree. but I do know of people who skip on the GT3RS/F430S/GallardoSL to go right to cars like the F430 Challenge for track use.

the reason Porsche's get better times for Nring is because they are made for that place. suspension setups and gearing are made to be optimized there, and once something is changed for use of a DD road car (ie 997TT) then the time becomes less impressive (ie the 997TT's 7:54)
