more cylinders, more power, more passion, but also some more weight

Nurburgring Nordschleife, 20.8 kms:
8:05 --- 152.907 km/h -- BMW M3, 420 PS/1608 kg

some understeering but easily turning in, perfect suspension

Hockenheim, short track: 1:14.3

again some understeer but also some oversteer when the ESP is disabled, lot of power in the rear, easily turning in, the limit is high but small with the hardest damper settings

0-200-0 km/h in 20.5 secs.

even though it weighs 1.6 tons it beats the predecessor M3 CSL by 0.9 secs., pretty good traction due to the limited slip differential, perfect gearbox and perfect brakes

max. lateral acceleration: 1.25g

thanks to the optional 19" Michelin Pilot Cup Sport tyres

specs:
420 PS at 8,300 rpm (red line at 8,400 rpm)
400 Nm at 3,900 rpm

Michelin Pilot Cup sport tyres, 245/35 ZR 19 and 265/35 ZR 19 in front/rear

MSRP: 66,650 EUR

weight: 1608 kg
power-to-weight: 261 bhp/ton

0-100 km/h 4.8 secs.
0-160 km/h 10.2 secs.
0-200 km/h 15.7 secs.

Vmax: limited to 280 km/h

18m slalom: 69.2 km/h
36m slalom: 138 km/h
110m evasion test: 146 km/h

again a perfect handling also because of the Michelin Pilot Cup Sports tires and perfect suspension, a lot of grip and a high but small limit

wet handling: 1:32.4

there is no big difference between the serial 1" Michelin Polit Cup 2 and the optional 19" Pilot Cup Sport tires, again some understeerno abrupt oversteer but it always feels safe and easy to control

verdict: 65 out 80 pts.

the powerful V8 engine is perfect also for the every day driver, a perfect companion. In combination with the sporty suspension, the M3 is a real bargain also for the sporty driver. The high weight results form all the luxury equipment but even though, the M3 is a real highflyer

7:50 for the first one was REALLY awesome.

Great time. On par with the Carrera S. =] Probably less of a handful as well. So damn close to the R8, but weither the same, marginally quicker or marginally slower, I'm just happy to know that any given race between the two of them is definately up in the air.

edit: ooh, and a fair 4 seconds ahead of the RS4. =] How nice.

Except on most tracks, where the R8 will be allot faster.

Long separated by cruel fate, the star-crossed lovers raced across the grassy field toward each other like two freight trains, one having left Cleveland at 6:36 p.m. traveling at 55 mph, the other from Topeka at 4:19 p.m. at a speed of 35 mph.
