yes, from a miata owner, your point? my cars actually run and run well thank you, and none of them have plywood dashboards.

the only person I've personally known to try to use a fiero in motorsports loved them and had a lot of them. they were slow as #$%# and broke all kinds of drivetrain and suspension pieces, usually finishing half the time in 2006 time trials (which is super easy on a car...). he carried half a dozen half shafts with him at all times. he worked on these things for profit and owned a rotating handful of them. he still couldn't get the piece of shit to work.

on the other hand, I beat to death virtually stock miatas but recieve no problems. after a few thousand miles your diff will go out because there isn't enough fluids in there for extended hard use. that is literally the only mechanical issue the cars have. I put 10,000 racetrack miles on my first motor and it still pulls strong, with dyno results to prove its longevity

on top of that, they're really agile and cheap and the last traditional sports car.

Such utter pieces of shit I know, just look at these performance figures:

Skidpad: .85g, which matched the Porsche 911 Carrera and Ferrari Testarossa for it's timeframe.

Slalom: 63.9 MPH, faster than a Lotus Espirit S4, BMW M3, Porsche 911 Carrera, Corvette ZR-1, Ferrari 348, Acura NSX, Dodge Viper and Nissan 300ZX TT.

- Car & Driver hailed the Fiero as "One of the best cars in America" and put it in their Top Ten list.

- Los Angeles Auto Expo awarded the Fiero the Design of the Year.

- A 4-cylinder Fiero took the NHRA's Competition Eliminator title at the Keystone Nationals on September 15, 1985 with a best 1/4-mile time of 9.72 seconds at 134.41 mph.

- The Fiero was the first American car to win in IMSA.

- In 1985, the Fiero won at Sears Point, one of three straight victories.

- During 36 months of racing, the Fiero won 40 of the races it participated in.

Yup, obviously a piece of shit car that has no place in the world of motorsports.

lol, those are from the ground up reengineered race cars, that's as relevant as me saying mazdas open wheel stuff is related to a 3 or 6. one of GMs first attempts at IMSA was a decon MONZA for gods sake (driven it)

and I don't care about how it's numbers stacked up in the tail end of the automotive dungeon, it's a shitty car and no one save a few rednecks gives a #$%# about it.

Would anybody tell me if I was getting... stupider?

this explains perfectly why they are so persistent in amateur motorsport today, while other cars of the same vintage like RX-7s don't have things like entire race series devoted to them. wait, what?

that's what you're resting your laurels on? the rx7 having a series? I see you've stacked the deck in your favour.

also, it's pointless to argue the point against fordracing. he races, and if you don't well you're just plain wrong, fordman. Yeah. Think about it.

you're resting your laurels on tube-framed fieros being in races over 20 years ago? They don't race now because they're horrible cars. There aren't enough running Fieros out there to start a race series, and even if they were, the teams would go bankrupt trying to keep their driving excitement from exploding into a million pieces.

oh look, the other fiero goon. yeah I race, I'm sorry it gives me some experience with this shit.

I don't think I used 'omg I'm high n mighty ur nub!' I refuted his points and brought up my own, which he sarcastically dismissed.

that's probably not true, if gm gave just an ounce of backing, there's already a bunch of cheap parts and networks for it. it'd be a cheap racing series for the most part...but yeah, you don't see any for a good reason

It's not a huge mess, I live right next door in Aurora. what's so wrong about being a privileged napervilleian? Don't let your e-persona get in the way, you should be very proud. Affluent people like yourself played the game right. moral superiority ftw, amirite?

And it's never been any question to me where you get the time and resources to race miata's. I really do wish I were you, Ben.

while I am a spoiled brat, the money to race comes from loans (I actually have a 'BHB Motorsports' thingie), borrowed equipment from my dad who happens to sell trailers and trucks, and sponsors. moral? and I don't have an e-persona, I'm just me. cept when I'm trollin

I couldn't do it without my pops, at least not in this facet, and it's great because it's a bonding with my buddy. definitely thankful and aware that I have a unique opporunities, but those are due to a hard working dad with cool interests.

going to graduate at the end of summer, and up until this winter I had a job ;_; which I worked full time when I wasn't in school. the job was laborer at a graphic metal fab shop

edit: you don't want to be me I'm boring and reclusive, flattered by the trollin

The Huffaker cars still exist, two of them are in Puerto Rico still racing, the others are in the hands of private collectors.

These tube-framed Fieros exploding into a million pieces were powered by a four cylinder engine, with mains thicker than your skull. Factory Iron Dukes and Super Duty Dukes are the bread and butter of grassroots motorsports. Even Cosworth saw the light and developed parts for the engine. The manufacturing rights to the Super Duty Duke is still a high dollar ticket, Kansas Racing Products is the current owner of the rights and sells SD4 blocks made to accept a SBC V8 head or Ford or Mopar V8 head for $12,500 and it is used today in the ARCA Lincoln-Welder Truck Series.
