I remember seeing a program on tv about a guy who had a scorpian tank registered for road use in the UK. Anyway I did some research and couldn't come up with anything on it however I did find a Spartan for sale (basically the APC version of the Scorpian) and the owner said it would be easy to register for the road. Anyway these things are seem fairly cheap and I actually am considering getting one. Only problem is I live in Canada and I am wondering if it could be registered for the road here as well.

Some pics below for those who are wondering what the Scorpian and its variants look like.

I highly doubt you'd be able to register it for road use.

In the UK, anything is possible.

Yeah that's the guy, thanks.

Also to add to this I just came across a military forum and it seems to be more common then I thought of actually how many of these things are registered for the road.

Should have stayed part of the colonies, then you could have had a tank.

If I bought it off a dealer the weapons would be de-activited, so technically it would be an 8 ton tracked vehicle.

Why buy one from UK when you can get one from our inbred cousins from Texas?

Dude, you seriously think that you could register one of things to use on the road? Even without any lights, turn signals, etc?

I am not questioning you but would you by chance have the line from the highway traffic act that states this? Plus lights and turn signals are really no problem. And if you look at the pictures I posted I believe these are already on the vehicle.

I do not have the book infront of me (its at work) but I do specifically remember something about tracked vehicles on paved roads (which I assume you live in) if you were in the territories you could probubly get away with it but not anywhere else.

The guy with the Sabre in the UK fitted rubber tracks ... might get expensive though.

that might work. but it all depends on how the passage is worded. I'll have to do some more research into this.

Tracked vehicles of any sort (rubber or metal) aren't road leagal in the US. I imagine Canada would be the same way.
