There aren't many pics of Rising Sun yet, since it's barely in the hand of its owner (Larry Ellison ... for those wondering ... boss of Oracle, previous owner of personal looking boats -Katana being one of them).
Has about 50 000hp! MUHAHAHAHAHA

Need a new reply ... too many pics!!! MUUUUHAHAHAHA.
And FWIW, Octopus isn't the largest private yacht anymore. Rising Sun is.

edit - some may want to check the Power And Motor Yacht forums, the megayacht section ... http://powerandmotoryacht.zeroforum.com/zeroforum?id=10

Is it just me or do new replies refuse to appear? Apparently NB and Cesar have replied to this thread (after my mucho pics replies) ... and I can't see them. WTH?

edit - now that I replied I can see them. Weird.

re-edit for Cesar : he apparently uses it a lot! As a Public Relations place, when he goes to random places, he has his boat docked somewhere close ... there's a recording studio in the damn thing ... so I guess it can be used for anything, anytime, anywhere. It's not just a cruising yacht. Paul Allen is one of the co-founders of Microsoft. Supposedly has around 20MM&. Isn't about to go broke since he financed the ship that recently won the X Prize, and is about to set up the first (I dunno if it's a joint company with Branson, though) space tourism company.

Fun fact, filling Octopus up to the brim requires ... a million liters of fuel.

I have heard that as a rule of thumb, you should allot 10% of the ship's total cost to maintenence/fuel/crew costs every year, so somewhere between 20 and 30 million US Dollars for the Octopus...

Oh, and look up the Asean Lady. My dad helped provide equipment for that one... May not be pretty, but rad anyways.
