The viper venom 800 runs about $167,000. It does 0-60 in 2.4 seconds and blasts through the quarter mile in 9 seconds. But you have to give this car credit for it's appearance. It is just way overpriced.

The stupid Viper Venom 800 just has a tricked out engine that cost $55,000 to convert a regular Viper. What happens when you make a true supercar have 800 bhp and race the quarter mile against a viper?
The Lotus Gt1 has better handling on the track. The Viper is too small and it's a very rough ride.

Viper is garbage comparing to this car. This Lotus only has 350hp and can run at 3.8 secs 0-60miles. If it has 800 hp, it will be flying like an airplane. I wonder if the Venom 800 can corner like this car or not.

vipers may be fast, but you can't even turn with them
The venom 800 runs the quarter mile in 10.7
Oh WOW you can race the venom on the drag strip all day, well guess what the Elise will beat your viper on the track
You make the GT1 a 500 bhp and it will beat or do an equal amount of time on the drag strip. So your question is why buy a GT1 when you can buy a venom.
I'm going to tell you why, because people wealthy enough to own this car want to be different and not drive a piece of crap that you can see on every street corner. Besides the venom is just a tuner. the conversion kit cost $55,000 to make it a venom

Why get a Venom 800, if your goal is to blast through a 1/4-mile??You can stuff a blower into a Cuda 426.Spend 50k instead of 167.

GT1 is all about handling! But 640k is rather steep!!

Oh dear.. I see that people are again numbers obsessed. Lotus never produced this car for the road - they had one or two road-going versions to allow them entry into the GT championship - that was the sole purpose of the car.

Given the rarity of this motor, why would you want to boast about Vipers out performing it? Less than 3 of these are on the road - w-o-r-l-d-w-i-d-e. I saw one for sale recently - Lotus Motorsport prepped, came with its own semi trailer, but no engine / gearbox - cost? Around £300k.

Who cares what out-drags this - it is truly unique, and has handling which is unrivalled. Some people on this forum are so naive and impudent...

durablity. The number one rule of racing "it is better to be durable than fast." Think about it even if the viper can pick up 2 or 3 seconds a lap over this, within the first 10 laps the viper will break down and spend a half hour in the pits because its engine is just a modified truck engine (hahahaha). It doesnt even out picking up some time on a lap and spending way more in the pits, making this the better car.
I judge a car based on what's under the hood, not what badge it wears.

This car only has 300 bhp and goes 195 if they'd wanted to they could have stuck a tank weight V12 in and wasted the viper but they wnted it to have class and handle well

When this car originally raced in 97 Lotus backed two teams but because Lotus always has problems with money it never got the development that it deserved. One team had the raced tuned engine from the Esprit GT1. If memory serves me correctly the other had a remapped Corvette engine that Lotus was developing for GM at the time.
The 340R tips the scale at some 600 kilos. On a track it wouldn’t make much difference if you were in a Porsche 911 Turbo or the latest Ferrari. Their ass is grass, and the 340R is a lawn mover

The Austin Metro was a horrible car, improving little in its looks through 20-odd years until its production, by then as the Rover 100, ceased in 1997. There was however a time when, bored with the daily grind, the devil himself visited the Austin works and went all Blue Peter on the little hatchback. He decided to eliminate the weight by making it all out of cereal packets and sticky backed plastic. Then he took out the weedy engine and dropped in a 410bhp V6 where the back seats should be. A bit of widening here and some aerodynamic accoutrements there and the 6R4 was born. A flared, snarling demon that the man downstairs is proud to call his own.

First off, having driving a Viper in high speeds, it has good handling. I heard the GT1 has a handling that is ballistic, but thats just what I heard. Truthfully, the Viper will beat this but by a very narrow finish, but the GT1 gets a lot of credit for amazing performance for only that much horsepower...

If you really had driven a viper as you claim you would have found out very quickly that the 800tt and every other viper handles very poorly at speeds above 160mph. Being that it is an american pos which was designed to fall apart so that Dodge can make even more money off of people who are silly enough to buy one which american car manufacturers have been doing since the 60's and always will do because there is more money to be made if it is designed to fall apart and they are usually the only ones who can fix it. For your remark that the viper will spank the Lotus GT1 you should be locked up in a padded room for all eternity. Think about it for a second the Viper with its piece of crap v10 should make 800bhp stock but no you have to have a engine conversion done which costs $55k for 830bhp and consiste of these add-ons-

Twin Garett ball bearing, water/oil cooled turbochargers with integral wastegates, HMS Aluminum Air to Air Intercoolers, Complete Turbo Tubing, Polished Stainless Inlet Tubes and Hoses/Clamps, Custom airbox with K&N filters,Upgraded fuel injection system,
HMS 3 in. Stainless Steel Exhaust System with Hi-Flow Catalysts,
Polished/Ported vemon cylinder head with 2.02in stainless intake valves, 1.65in stainless exhaust valves, bronze valve guides, heavy duty valve springs & titanium retainers,
Honed/Ported instake manifold, T&D 1.7 shaft rockerarms with hardened steel pushrods, HMS lifter upgrade, HMS aluminum flywheel upgrade, HMS 2-core radiator upgrade, HMS short throw shifter,
Venom floor mats, valve covers & serial numbered carbon fibre dash plaque.

Taig Stewart of Salt Lake City, Utah sent his Viper GTS to Hennessey Motorsports in Houston, Texas which does the conversion to have the engine upgraded to 800TT specs, the deal was for just the engine to be upgraded for $125,000 and nothing else. The completion date was to be 12 weeks after John took delivery of the Viper GTS, what the owner found out was that Hennessey decided to sell the car’s engine, transmission, wheels, tires and hood in which they had no business of even touching. Taig Stewart is currently suing Hennessey for the $145,000 it took him to get his car upgraded even though his car still sits at Hennessey Motorsports untouched (The entire story and many more like it can be read at this site -

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=234868&page=1.)

Now imagine things like that happenning several times over and over again, would anyone want to have a viper upgraded or even buy one after reading all of those lawsuits? If so then you dont see the whole picture of what is going on and you qualify as quite possibly the stupidest person/s on the face of this planet.
