Well this is a pure not-legal racing car. The legal models have much less power (you could never use this much safely on a fwd with street-legal tires anyway)

Allthough it is not street legal its quite impressive. Compare it to a Formula 1 that has about 800bhp and 3 L (and also 10 cylinders) which makes; 800/3= 266 bhp/l....

But the Formula 1 uses free "Breathing"... This thing has a huge turbo.
Can u imagine a Formula 1 with a 3bar turbo charger? I woud be afraid to "turn the key"

True, but the F1 also has the advantage of a 3L displacement and 10cylinders. And also this was done by a small private tuning-firm, Trollspeed. Compare their budget to Maclaren or Williams

Yes indeed.
But yes, this is an incredible power figure for a 2 liter car.
However, their top of the line production model, the 9-5 Aero, makes 250 bhp from 2.3 liters, and 258 lb-ft of torque at just 1900 rpm, evidence of it's great tractability, incredible given its 110 bhp per liter.

its incredible, thats true. And Saab was also the first to use turbos in road legal street cars, yes. Only thing i can say, is that F1 cars probably has more than 800 hp now, dont you think?
Anyway, Saab are (and have always been) very ingenious when it comes to engines. Last thing i heard, is that they are working on a engine with variable compression in the cylinders (!). This is, to say the least, a tricky piece of engineering, and for the moment not very reliable. Power output? approx. 230 hp from a 1,6 litre 4 cylinder engine. without turbo, i must add. hopefully this engine will come in production, but I think that its just too difficult to make reliable. But thats what everybody said about turbos in the 70s.....
