Visit hartge.de, look at the new h50, imagine taking a seat. then you will know why anyone who appreciates race cars more than limos would spend his money on the new hartge.
Forget the old model it's not unique.

There's the Hartge H50, which is a 3-series coupe with the M5 engine. I don't understand why someone would not like the sedan over the coupe. It's like porsche boxster and the 911. At one time the 911 customers were complaining that the boxster which is an entry level porsche look almost identical to a legend. People who spent over 100k on a sports car wanted it to be known and not to be confused for an entry level car. Same rule of thought. Ultimately I think the M5 is the way to go!

Well, this car is much more raw. Better power to weight ratio, no electronic traction or stability control. Much more sporting period. This is even more exclusive than the M5 too. I'd much rather have this, although no as shown in the pic above, than the M5 unless I really needed the space and extra doors.
Warning, people in black S4's are known to beat people driving white Accord's who, for some reason, think they want a peice.

Yeah, if your priorities are things other than performance.
The E46 weighs around 3450 lbs which is about 500lbs lighter than the E39's 3950 lbs (approx). Give or take after stripping the heavy luxuries. So given the relative weight penalty of the M5, plus the stealth-factor of the smaller Hartge... I would take the Hartge over the M5.
The numbers tell the story: 4.6 seconds 0-60 Hartge, 4.8 for the M5.
The M5 is like a Hartge with two big guys sitting in the back seats, messing up your acceleration, braking, cornering. But the real value in the Hartge is the stealth factor-- surprising the crap out of Mr. M3 or doctor M5 when you leave em behind.

The Hammer slams down in the form of an 86 300E 6.0L V8 AMG. The first in a line of kings from Affalterbach.
Enter the AMG 5.5L V8 Kompressor. All Hail the new King.

And on top of the weight advantage the Hartge has, it also has some extra power. According to the Hartge site, if I remember correctly, the H50 is tuned to 460hp!

This car is all about pure performance. If you want the faster car, the Hartge is the way to go. No disrespect to the M5 though. If you want a really really really fast car that can seat 5 adults comfortably and still wanna smoke the majority of the cars out on the streets, then the M5 would be the one to go for.
This is a coffee can sized exhaust. And so what!! It looks great and sounds even better.

I have nothing against the m5 but when you compare it to this car, i would take this one any day. Think about how many m5's there are in the states, it may not be every day that you see one but there sure are more than there are these. I'd rather have this car just for the fact that the other day i was cruising down the interstate and saw a gorgeous m5. I pulled up to see if it wanted to play, even though i new it would beat me i still wanted to see it perform. I look over and look at who's behind the wheel. Much to my surprise, it was an old lady who looked like she had grandkids even. I dont want to drive a car that some grandmother is gonna be using as a taxi and a playground. Those cars are meant to perform and thats what it needs to be used for.

I would take this purely because of the sport issue but the average person that can afford this car can probably easily afford the M5 also and I'm willing to bet they have both
I may be late, but I'm always on time.
