uhhm when it enters production, the SRX is going to have the CTS's V6 and possibly a Northstar V8

the production SUV is said to be better proportioned and will have a wider taillamp and grille arrangement...
damn it looks so cool, I'm starting to imagine what'd like to drive one already...

I'm agreeing with you very much on this one

Ivanhoe, man, I agree with you completely except for one thing. Escalade is not a ripoff. Its a different SUV with the ssame platform. See, I get pissed when people diss my fav car(s) and the Escalade just happened to be at the top of my list.

But on the other hand, Damn! this looks fine! It would be good competetion with the other midsize SUV's.

indeed... but I was referring to gen 1 Escalade which was basically a Yukon Denali with a Cadillac Badge on it... but when the new gen Yukon came out the guys at Cadillac got the money to make the Escalade different enough from its Chevy /GMC counterparts... same with the Escalade EXT/ Chevy Avalanche... they are both a step up from gen I and way better (read: more functional) than the Lincoln Navigator /Blackwood.

Ok so what's new? The production spec SRX wasn't unveiled at Detroit (instead we only got the sneak peak of the production XLR) but Caddy made an announcement days before NAIAS, stating that it will unveil the next gen STS and the SRX in April's New York Auto Show...

This may sound like a stupid question, but what is Sigma? I was reading an article about the CTS and they referd to Sigma on more thasn one occasion. I was having trouble understanding the whole article becuase I didn't know what Sigma is.

GM is developing its new product lineups from new plattforms, named after some letters from the greek alphabet... the Sigma plattform will be used for medium and large cars and crossovers for the Cadillac and Saab lines... the CTS, STS, and SRX will share the same plattform and will be built in the same state-of the art GM facility in Lansing, Mi, eventually, they may be joined by a Saab crossover-.

Other global plattforms for future GM products include the Epsilon (compact and medium cars, like the -canned- Buick Bengal) and Delta (compact and medium cars, like Opel Vectra, Chevy Malibu, Pontiac Grand Prix...)

looks like you didn't took your time to read the whole thread did you?
otherwise youu would have noticed my post that's 4 messages before this one, stating that I was referring to Gen I Escalade as the Yukon's rip-off, and the rest of the info.

read it first and then we will talk

uhm just one more thing...
I'm not a Ford-only fan, neither a Caddy-fan or a Jap-car basher or whatever... I just happen to like car design. And there are some great designs in the current automotive world... like Cadillac's Art & Science, Ford's New Edge, and the like.
