The S52 was only good after being upgraded. It only came 245bhp stock. With a performance chip, it has 315bhp. I prefer the S50 or the S54.

Yes, the M5 engine wasn't torque. I'd have thought that a car like this (a bit large and heavy appearing) would need a bit more torque. 450lb-ft, as mentioned earlier, sounds about right. 398 is just a little low...
