Does anyone realise that this car will last about a week, if that.
who cares, he's not a house hold name in north america like he is in the 3rd world, where people care about F1. I bet most of my friends wouldn't know who the #$%# he is - TimmyMcOwnsYou on Ayrton Senna
Again I'm amazed people as passionate about cars don't read the actual articles on these cars ...
"THeres a reason michael (or was it mario?) andretti said the viper was one of the most dificult cars to drive on the plaent."
Did you actually read the article? He posted the FASTEST time above the Ferrari and Porsche in the Viper. Then said he didn't like it. Could it be hmmm ... his family has worked for Ferrari for 3 generations maybe?
Let me say this again ... he posted the fastest track course time in the Viper. That means it handles well, not because I say it or someone else says it .. because the fastest driver in the world took 6 of the best handling cars in the world on the same track and posted the FASTEST time in the Viper.
As far as the Porsche, etc ... I love Porsche and think it's the best all around sports car, even above the Viper, mainly because you can drive them every day and never get tired of them. But that said the Viper is as fast and as good handling as the Turbo Porsche according to every magazine out there. As far as handling and track times .... well Viper has won every division it's entered. Including recently taking the World Drifting Competition with Samuel Hubinette.
I totally agree that Porsche and Viper handle differently, but that's simply because of the way they're designed. Front engine vs rear engine. The real test is the track times ... and as far as that goes Viper can hold it's own with almost ANY car.
How do I know? ... well I've raced an F50, Lambo, and Ruf Porsche ... and I know how they all handle.
And the last comment I have to add is YES these cars can last for quite a while. I bought mine new and while most people track their Vipers or garage them I use mine every day .... thus the odometer 8-)
PS: The pictures are from a group of race friends that got together for a fun lunch. I'v raced with all of them.
Lotusboi ... I totally agree with you on some aspects. Drive a Lotus weighing 1/2 the wgt of any car and you'll have a blast. Same thing with any Kit car or Kart even. The less wgt the more fun. But unless you're on an Autocross that doesn't win road races. Sort of the same thing with most Rally cars. They will KILL on bad road conditions, dirt, snow, etc, but if you put them on even pavement they will tend to lose to the bigger (larger hp) cars. It's all about the setup for the individual enviorment.
