Couldn't they get a hold of the newer LS2 instead? Unless I'm greatly mistaken, SSC uses the LS2 for their cars and see how much power they pull out of that engine.

im pretty sure the development that went into this engine for this car started before the ls2 was released here
my dream car garage: (not in any order) 1- Ford BF F6 Typhoon, 2- Bugatti veyron, 3- Ford XY GTHO phase 3, 4- Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione II, 5- Ferrari 250gto, 6- 69 camaro, 7- Pagani Zonda, 8- HDT VK GRP A, 9- Lamborghini Miura

yep. But it would have been good if they had got their hands on an LS2 engine.
