The 1969 chevrolet corvette baldwin motion phase III featured the same engine(the L-88 427) but quater mile times were rated at 12.35 seconds at 117mph not to mention they only produced 12 and fewer than 5 exist today

Baldwin motion was a chevy dealer that started in baldwin, long island and started modifying these magnifacant machines

These figuers on this website are a little exaggarated the original L-88 was actully rated at 430hp@5200RPM with 450LB-FT@4400RPM and the baldwin motion vette was rated at 500HP@6500RPM with 535LB-FT@400RPM

Does anyone have any pitcures of the baldwin motion vette?

You probobly don't realise that the same motor can have very different power figures due to the state of tune. for example a 5.7 GenIII V8 is found in a power of 235kw to 300kw, all to do with the tuning. SInce it is the muscle car era here, surely someone would have tinkered with the engine just a ta, right.

Of course i realize that but its a dealer tuned muscle car it just a sick car i mean its not just the engine thats impressive they took over 350lbs off the car,the transmission is upgraded and it has a traction system and runs over a second and a half faster than the stock vette with the L-88 not to mention they only produced 12 and fewer than 5 exist today, and it was a dealer tuned muscle car which made it self a well known name, and of course the same engine can have diffrent figuers due to tuning.(by have a bigger carb, cam timing, ignition timing you know shit like that)

No, GM only ADVERTISED 430hp so the USA government wouldn't know about it. It realisticaly DOES have 550hp.

Same with the current C5 Corvette. It has well over 350 horsepower, but is advertised at 350 horsepower so that people would be able to afford the insurance. I think thats why, but I could be wrong.

Thats not true. I've seen a dyno sheet on a LS1, it does have 350hp, and in some cases less. (caused by now wearing in the engine properly when it was new.)

If it was tested on a dyno and produced 350hp at the rear wheels, then it would have significantly more than this. Assuming 20% loss through the drivetrain, this would give approx. 438hp at the flywheel... although maybe you already accounted for this, you didn't say... anyway, peace out =)
A'ight?!?

If you really believe the 430HP rating then you would be the guys that purchased the more powerful and cheaper 435HP L71 427. I mean you need racing fuel for the L88 or you will blow the motor. 430 was an under rate and the engine was pulling 560-600HP on the dyno depending on the CR.
