Richard Thanks for posting the great pictures and info. I am the restorer and owner Owen Gibson. A little correction the orginal engine was the Olds in 57 (Ihave pictures of the guys installing it. then it got the Pontiac in 59 when Pete got out of the service and raced the car. also race records show the car as sucessfull in the limited races Frank Jack and Pete raced in 57,58,59,60 If your interested I have a full history
Race record per recollections and SCCA records 1954 Late Designed the car and built a wooden / plaster plug 1955 Made mold and layed up the 1st body built the yellow butterscotch) car 1956 Built 2 or 3 bodies ( Red Car w/ 49 Plymouth chassis/303 Olds and the Typhoon body ) 1957 Finished the Typhoon s/n 003 and Frank Jack and Pete raced in several events: ( Voevodsky bought a 57 vette for C/P) Phoenix Thunderbird events ( Beardsley and Williams ) Mel Larson sponsored events ( Marana Speed Trials ) Frank came in First by several seconds 1958 Bloody Basin Hill Climb (Phoenix Thunderbird) ?? Beardsley (PCC) have DVD of 16mm Film Williams (1st Trophy girl parachuted in HOLDING the trophy. Frank says she was a ruff looking gal and passed on the kiss ) Tucson area SCCA events Wilcox AZ Speed Trials ?? Frank was running a body repair shop and went looking for a sponsor. The Voevodsky family stepped in and bought a 59 Vette and started the team which then traveled west west coast in 1959. The Olds was retired and the Al 389 Pontiac NASCAR motor was built 1959 Team raced : El Paso (Escarate Park) Ft Sumner New Mexico Tucson (2nd to Max in the Old Yeller car) Phoenix (Several races) ( 1st and 2nds Always with The Hagaman(Alex Budrin or Max in Yeller) Pole @ Laguna Seca Santa Barbara Palm Springs ?? 1960 El Paso (Escarate Park) Ft Sumner New Mexico Tucson Phoenix (Several races)
