The LT1 must suck, a stock LS1 with 305 horsepower does 0-60 in 5.1 seconds, OH thats Z28 and the 2002'Vette z06 LS1 with 405 horsepower does 0-60 in 4.0 seconds stock. Go away callaway.

The 2002 z06 has a LS6 engine not the LS1, not sure it makes a differance though.

A stock '94 MKIV Supra could waste this piece of sh*t.

Gday. Its either because
A) Its torque peak is around the mid/top rpm range @ 5000 rpm
B) Its gear ratios are wide which would = less accelleration with a bit more top speed. Im sure its one of them.
but geez, 1993 with 470 odd bhp wow

LT1 is the Vette engine used from like 92 to 97 I think. Unlike the all aluminum LS1 used in today's stock Vettes that produces around 350 hp, the LT1's only produced 305 hp and were all iron except for the heads. LT1's aren't that great for low end torque because of the short runners on the fuel injection system, but pretty good for high end driving. This is a complete switch from the 82-91 (maybe 90 or 89 instead of 91) Vettes that had the tuned port injection that was all about torque and no top speed.

450+ HP fuel injected '82 Vette. New Project: '72 Stingray, all new suspension, blown LS1, six speed T56, sidepipes, and fender flares. Goal: 500 RWHP and 3,100 lb. race weight

This has to be a typo. Wouldn't be the first time on SC.net.

well, the Supernaturals of which I have one is not the same stock LT1 that came with it. Callaway takes it out to a 383 stroker, all new aluminum pistons, forged crank, new heads, exhaust, there is nothing left original but the block and the top end on it is 192 with 1/4 times at 4.0, putting out 405HP, mine is up around 440hp right now. not sure where this forum is getting it's stats from but a CR1 is in fact a ZR1 from the factory, those where mostly supernatural 490 cars, even stock it's putting out 405hp . so the 354 horses they quote are totally wrong as is the 1/4 mile times. even the picture clearly shows a ZR1. there were a few supernatural 450 cars but not many. the LT1 cars were C6's

The amazing little things called "gear ratios" are why this car does 60 in 5 seconds. Look at the top speed its 193mph isnt it?It has longer gear ratios to give a higher top speed. Inevitably some acceleration is forfeited. Nuff sed

Am I crazy or did I see DOHC listed as the valvetrain? This must be a Calloway special or something as Chevy is notorious for the pushrod LS1 and LT1. Or possibly just a typo?

If this car is based on the ZR1, which I believe it is, then yes, it is DOHC. The engine in the ZR1 was the all aluminum DOHC LT5, with two sets of intake runners and 350 cubic inches. Its about as exotic an engine as was ever put in a Chevy: designed with the help of Lotus, built by Mercury Marine, this engine could run at the redline all day and still be good for tomorrow.

WakkaWu - if only you could afford the sledgehammer you cream over, maybe it would have seen production being that at least one person needs to show interest before you can sell one.
