Is this car already homologated through the standard M3? I am not familiar with homologation rules in the ALMS and I don't know if the M3 GTR was necessary because of its V8.

The new road-going M3 is going to have the 4L V8 in it, so homologation will not be a problem.

They only have to build 100 road-going cars for the race car to be legal, which I'm sure BMW will meet with ease.

Yes, this car will be homologated from the standard M3 road car. The last M3 GTR ran into trouble because they installed a V8 in the race car and only made 1 homologation car with a V8. That's fine for the FIA GT where you only needed to make 1 road going version of a car to homologate it, but for ACO sanctioned races, GT race cars are supposed to be racing versions of road cars, not the other way around, so a V8 M3 race car was banned.

This new car will have no problems though.
