I would just like to hear you opinions on which car you would rather have a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T Hemi or a 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda.

Both cars use the same engine and a fairly similar car overall. Just on personal opinion I would take the Cuda. I like the styling a bit better. Both cars would be awesome to have and work on, however that won't happen for a while but I'm working on it

The cars are exactly the same...How could you prefer one over the other?

Looks? You must mean the AAR Cuda...because apart from that one they both look about the same to me.

Well both are E bodies. Just the tail lights and the grill were differant between the cuda and challenger. Plus the interior was differant to but these 2 cars were sisters.

Yeah both are E Bodies. The 'Cuda had the AAR package, and the Challenger had the T/A package. These were built for the same purpose as the Z/28 Camaros. Personally I would like the Challenger, just because it looks a little meaner, though it was more expensive, competing with the Mercury Cougar, where the 'Cuda was up against Camaros, Mustangs, and Firebirds. Has anyone seen Vanishing Point? There is a great movie with a Challenger.
favorite cars - '68 Chevelle SS396,'66 Pontiac GTO Tri-Power,'69 RoadRunner 440-6,'69 El Camino SS427,'69 Yenko Camaro 427 S/C............. and plenty more American Muscle, with a few Europeans and a Skyline, too.

American Muscle all the way, and there's nuthin' the matter with people who like kraut cars, pasta rockets, or r!ce either. so don't start stuff about it. where all on this site because we love cars.

Yeah man, I've seen vanishing point - 'catch a mopar with a mopar'...gotta agree with you, if it comes down to choosing between a cuda or a challenger I'd take the challenger too....with the 426 Hemi...

Give me the Cuda', it came in a convetible.
Plumb Crazy Purple with the white interior.

BTW:
The AAR and T/A didn't have the Hemi, they had the 340. There suspension and brakes were upgraded for Trans Am racing.

For racing, Challenger
For looks, Cuda (unless the Challenger was a T/A equipped with the ducktail spoiler, those look badass.)

Sadly, most of the Challengers came with 440 6 Paks, while must Cudas came with HEMIs, so the comparison hasta be more specific. The challenger was the better performer due to a lighter weight and probably better suspension, but have u seen a Cuda on the street? It looks BADASS, even in an extremely rusted black body.

Well I think you are a damn tool. In the sense of the word, the Cuda and Challenger were the same. They were both E-bodies. Just like how the Superbird and Charger were both B-bodies. And on some cases you could switch parts between them (ie hoods, decklids, doors). And you say you have knowledge of Mother Mopar? Please... One word for you P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C..... PATHETIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok, just so you all know their is no body parts that can be taken from a cuda and put on a challenger. just because they look the same does not mean they are the same. thats like calling a camaro and a firebird the same car. The head lights are different and back lights are also different.... so are almost all the other line s on the car. the biggest difference is the rear fender just look at them and you can see it.ok just put the cars next to each other.
i have a 1971 challenger r/t 383 4 11 s, 4 speed hurst built street car. AND I KNOW ITS NOT A CUDA.

Dood, they ARE the same cars with minor differences. They're both E-bodies. I guarantee you you could switch the headlights, taillights, or grilles, but that might require some fender work, yes. But the chassis and structure of the cabin are the exact same, so in theory and maybe even in practice, the parts are interchangable. But it'd still be a bitch to switch parts.

they are both great rare and desirable mopars (of course the 69-70 stang boss is a, awesome ford muscle car). They were among the fastest mopars ever build. The hemi cuda was faster than the hemi challenger 12.72sec at 1/4th mile at 110mph for the hemi cuda against 13.36sec at 1/4th mile at 105mph for the hemi chally.

they are now very expensive near 80000-100000$ range.

These cars are, in many ways, similar. They, however are not the same car. Being as I own a 1970 Challenger R/T that came with no motor, poor interior, and needed paint, I've had to do quite a bit of research on these cars. As far as performance, the Challenger and Cuda are the same. Their suspension is identical, their wheelbase is identical, their weights, as they are similarly equipped and of similar length, are identical. Many parts are interchangable between Cudas and Challengers, but for the most part, you cannot interchange them (at least not correctly). There are about 2 exterior parts that can be interchanged that I can think of: hood pins and engine size labels (that go on the hood). The lines are different on the sides of the car and the grill and taillights also differ. Grill, taillights, fenders, doors, etc cannot be interchanged (at least not without work... but they dont interchange if you need to make mods... thats the definition of interchange). Someone also mentioned about the flashiness of the two cars. I'm not expert on "flash" but the Challenger does have more aluminum (or chrome as people call it) siding on the car. Most people dont even see the advanced exterior options available for the Challengers (and possibly for the Cuda as well, but I've never seen a Cuda with an exterior option) that include aluminum rocker panels, nose covers, and window sills. And lastly most cars were not equipped with 400 six packs. I would be willing to bet most cars were either equipped with 383s (of various carburetion), 318s (also of varying carburetion), or 225s.
My 1970 Challenger R/T 383 Magnum is faster than yours.

yes and that was on old good year polyglass f60-15 bias tires!!
There is an explanation of this result the hemi engine was underrated at 425hp but true hp was 550.Imagine the result with new modern tires. Also the hemi suspension played an important part of giving a good handling to the car.Of course the rear axle was the legendary dana60 sure grip.
