The Rear end of the F512M was the first in the 512 series to feature round taillights. When the new F355 was shadowing the F512TR in 1994, Ferrari decided to redesign the front of the 512TR to make it more competitive against Ferrari's new 8 cylinder. The Headlights were also fixed to improve areodynamics. The engine squeezed out another 12 HP and was lowered a full inch to increase stability. The engine weight was also reduced by several pounds. The interior was also refined to be more functional and luxurious. All in all, the F512M was the most technically advanced and the most powerful of the Testarossa line which included the Testarossa, the F512TR, and finally the F512M throughout their 14-year production run (1984-1996).
HEAD TO HEAD: 1984 Ferrari Testarossa: 390 HP Flat 12 0-60 in 5.4 seconds Topspeed: 181 mph
1995 Ferrari F512M: 440 HP Flat 12 0-60 in 4.6 Seconds Topspeed: 196 mph
Note: Given the addition of an aftermarket Tubi exhaust (dealer installed) horsepower was increased to 475 and claimed a topspeed of 200 mph. Not too shabby!
