Lotus Sport, the performance division of Lotus Cars Ltd., has developed the Lotus Sport Exige 240R, a limited edition high performance sportscar with total production limited at fifty examples.

Lotus Sport, the performance division of Lotus Cars, has developed the new Exige, a direct motorsport derivative of the successful roadcar. The car has been taken from concept to reality in only six months thanks to several engineering partners. It was designed by Barney Hatt (Principal Designer for Lotus Design), under the direction of Russell Carr (Chief of Design).

For customers that missed out on the very limited production run of X180Rs, the 300 Sport was offered in 1993. It esssentially offered the same package as the X180R racecar. With an optional LotusSport package, the car incorpored a full rollcage, harness and fire extinguisher. All versions of the Sport 300 featured the 300 bhp, S910 poweplant which was similarly tuned to X180R specification.

Taking the V8 GT futher, the Sport 350 was one of the most exclusive Esprits made. It featured the standard-spec V8 with blue-painted intake manifolds. What set the 350 Sport apart from the VT GT was a number brake, suspension and chassis improvements.

Earlier this year, Chevrolet announced the return of the Corvette Grand Sport model. It’s a track-oriented Corvette with wider wheels and tires, special suspension tuning and unique exterior details. The Corvette Grand Sport achieves a 0-60 time of less than four seconds, pulls 1.0 g on the skid pad and still boasts an EPA-rated highway fuel economy 26 mpg.
