1973→1975 Lancia Stratos Group 4

1973→1975 Lancia Stratos Group 4

The Stratos was homologated in 1974 as a Group 4 contender in the World Rally Championship and it’s successful design helped Sandro Munari and Björn Waldegård win the championships in 1974, 1975 and 1976.

Like the road-going Stradale version the Group 4 used Ferrari’s Dino 2.4-liter V6 engine but tuned to 275 hp for the 12-valve version and 320 hp for the 24 valve version. This was possible with forged billet aluminum pistons, a ported and gas-flowed cylinder head, larger 45mm valves and twin-throat 48 IDF Weber down-draft carburetors.

The transmission was changed to dog-leg-type gearbox with cascade ratios with all new ratios and fitted to a new sintered-metallic dual-plate clutch and lightweight flywheel.

The suspension was fully rose-jointed with Bilstein telescopic dampers over Eibach coil springs.

Braking was upgraded to 267mm AP Vented Discs w/AP/Lockheed 4-Piston Aluminum Monobloc Calipers which stopped Campagnolo 8×15 wheels.
