1991 Koenig-Specials KS8

In the mid-nineties Koenig-Specials based out of Munich Germany offered an aggressive bodykit for the BMW 8 Series known as the KS8. It included a front skirt, large fender flares and a rear wing, however, Koenig also offered a comprehensive program to upgrade almost the entire car. One of these was ordered in black for inclusion in the Sultan of Brunei’s collection.

Some of these cars received an upgraded intake system complete with supercharger. The base 850i was upgraded to 450 bhp while the 850CSi reached 510 bhp. The conversion included a supercharger, new engine management, an intercooler and added €35,279 to the price of the conversion.

The added performance gave the 8 series a top speed close to 200 mph (310 kph) depending on wheel size. An optional sport axle offered better acceleration, but limited top speed to about 175 mph (285 kph).

Complete conversions included a Koenig sports exhaust, aluminum multi-piece wheels, a sports suspension with new shocks and springs. A convertible model was also offered with an electro-hydrualic automatic soft top.
