2002 Subaru Impreza WRC

Poised to make Subaru competitive, four-time World Champion driver Tommi Makinen is driving for the 2002 season. The 37-year-old Finn brings a wealth of knowledge to the team and his standing as the most successful rally driver of the last decade.

He drove to first place in the 2002 Monte Carlo rally. This result gives him an unprecedented record of four consecutive Monte Carlo wins and makes him the most successful driver in the WRC!

The 2002 Monte Carlo was quite contervertial as Sebation Loeb, driving the Citroen Xsara, accually finished the rally faster than Makinen. Unfortunately, a two minute penalty was incurred after leg one for a tire change in an illegal area. Citroen appealead the penalty immediately. The rally ended with Loeb being victor, but a week after the event, Citroen dropped case and let Subaru took the victory.
