Paris Classic Car Auction Report

This year Bonhams, RM Auctions, at Artcurial Motorcars offered 100s of classic cars to a enthusiastic market that yielded high numbers for the Rétromobile weekend.

Bonhams offered an incredible number of cars in the classic setting of The Grand Palais des Champs-Élysées appropriately titled 2015 Les Grandes Marques du Monde au Grand Palais. While they didn’t secure sales of several key lots, it became their top-grossing automotive sale in Europe. This was helped along by the 1965 Aston Martin DB5 Convertible which sold for a record €1,897,500 and a 1930 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Grand Sport James Young that sold for €1,184,500.

RM Auctions we close by at Place Vauban for their annual Paris Sale. A beautiful Ferrari 250 GT/L or Lusso scrored the top sale at €1.624.000 which underlines their increasing prices as a blue-chip collector car.

Finally we have the French powerhouse Artcurial who stole the weekend with The Roger Baillion Collection. Every lot sold well above the estimate including the 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider chassis 2935GT which sold for a record €16,300,000.

Artcurial’s regular Rétromobile auction was no slouch either at 115 lots. They achieved the world record price for a Bizzarrini 5300 at €1,244,400 and a 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO which set a precedent at €441,040.
