1998 Nissan R390 GT1
The R390 GT1 was the works machine raced by Nissan, returning to Le Man after an absence of seven years. It faced disappointment in 1997, when the best result was 12th overall (Hoshino, Comas, Kageyama).
In 1998, in its second attempt at Le Mans, the R390 GT1 was represented by a total of 4 entries: No.30 (Clarion), No. 31 (UNISIA JECS), No. 32 (Calsonic), and No.33 (JOMO). Its proved to be a difficult race, with only 23 cars completing the course, but all the Nissans made the top-ten ranking, with car No.32 (Hoshino, A. Suzuki, Kageyama) coming in 3rd overall, thus demonstrating the machine’s reliability.
