1980 Styling Garage Spezialkarosserien M1

1980 Styling Garage Spezialkarosserien M1

1980 Styling Garage Spezialkarosserien M1

The M1 featured here is a particularly interesting example. It was delivered in 1980 by Styling Garage Spezialkarosserien of Hamburg with numerous cosmetic modifications reminiscent of the all-out racing M1s. As such it was a very unique car, delivered to the former Prime Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani.

It subsequently returned to Germany in the 1980s and made its way to the opposite side of the pond shortly thereafter, where it has remained ever since. It is presented today mostly non-restored and original to the age of its customization. The white paint, with its typical blue and red BMW race striping, is well maintained and in good condition. The same can be said for the BBS wheels and the extensive bodywork.

The white leather interior features a matching red, white, and black pattern and is in excellent condition having been re-dyed to preserve its originality and feel, yet displays as vibrantly today as it did new. Meanwhile, the inline six-cylinder engine, mounted amidships, benefits from a great set of stainless steel headers.

Other than minor cosmetic changes, however, the engine compartment appears to be in original condition. Notable additional features include air conditioning, power brakes, and a custom sound system. The engine is crisp, powerful, and shifts through the gears very nicely.
