1954 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Alloy Coupé

To stay competitive in the production car racing, Mercedes-Benz fabricated a handful of 300 Sls with aluminum-alloy bodies. As such they are the most sought after of all the Gullwings.

In addition to the lightweight body, these cars had plexiglas side windows, shorter competition springs and stiffer shock absorbers. Engines featured a hotter camshaft.
