The winning 1934 Packard 1108 Twelve Dietrich Convertible Victoria

The 63rd Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance concluded last weekend and firmly cemented its role as the ''Concours of the World'' by showcasing more restoration debuts than any other show.

The winning 1934 Packard Twelve Convertible Victoria left many Europeans confused, but it was highly deserving and is probably the most dramatic Convertible Victoria of all time.

Sanda Button, her capable staff, and the 500+ volunteers put on a world class show and donated $1,277,007.00 to the Pebble Beach Foundation charities at the same time.

Lincoln was the main theme of this year's concours with four separate classes filled with many specially-bodied cars. Consequently, the 100th anniversary of Aston Martin was squeezed into one class which was the biggest on the lawn and won by a fantastic Bertone Spider.

The 50th anniversary of the Porsche 911 also got two classes, one for road going 911s and another for competition 911s. Unfortunately, the scheduled 911s from the Porsche Museum never arrived from Laguna Seca and left a huge hole in the field.

A third anniversary class was Lamborghini's 50th which included the very first Lambo and an impressive early prototype Miura.

Other special classes were reserved for Open Packards, BMW 507s, Simplex and Vanvooren Coachwork.

With much anticipation 28 Alfa Romeo 8Cs also came out before their Tour of the Rockies later this month. This class was not judged but made for an impressive sight along the shoreline.
