The first production units of the Pagani Huayra R are finished
About a year ago we finally saw the prototype of Pagani’s latest track-only hypercar, the impressive Huayra R, a descendant of the amazing Zonda R, a true masterpiece that was created back in 2008 when work on the Huayra was already on its way, but Horatio and the team at Pagani Automobili wanted to create something truly unique, with few to no restraints … the result, the Pagani Zonda R, unveiled in her magnificent clear, all-carbon-fiber body at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, but track-only, the Zonda R wasn’t, and probably will never be, street-legal … and that is exactly how Horatio tackled the next-generation hypercar, the Huayra R, as a celebration of passion – an extreme, untamed car, developed free from rules except for safety, with the sole aim of offering uncompromising performance. But first and foremost, it was designed to excite, and thanks to a production run of just 30 units, the Huayra R will be rare, today, and in the future.
We’ve already seen the silver mockup prototype Horatio Pagani created to be able to verify the overall design from every angle on a real 1:1 model, you can only do so much on a computer display, and after that they built a production prototype, a ‘Car Zero’ so to speak, only in case of the Huayra R it came with the nr 1 on the roundel, finished in a glossy, visible carbon-fiber bodywork, truly a work of art that has been on display during several events, the latest being Motor Valley Fest, and now Pagani shows the first four actual production cars … on the Paul Ricard track.
These are all ‘made to measure’ units, specifically built for their respective owners, and for this occasion, Pagani brought along the stunning Zonda R too, so they could compare both generations of these hypercars side by side, the intention is to have the Pagani Huayra being driven on some of the world’s most famous circuits, the first stint was a three-day event called Arte in Pista on the famous Paul Ricard circuit, take a look at the official video about driving the Huayra R from Pagani Automobili below, and after you’ve enjoyed it, make sure to check out the rest of our extensive image gallery on this track-only beauty:
