Koenigsegg kicked off a new era with the announcement of the Regera at the 2015 Geneva Auto Show. The limited-series megacar is a hybrid, with three electric motors combined with a twin-turbo V8 to produce over 1,500hp. What\u2019s more? The car is equipped with a revolutionary powertrain technology called the Koenigsegg Direct Drive. The single gear system among other things, eliminates the traditional gearbox system, making the car lighter and more efficient.<\/span><\/p>\n The Swedish carmaker has since followed the Regera announcement with the Jesko – a track-focused road-legal car billed as the Agera replacement. There will also be the Jesko Absolut variant, a hardcore road rocket aimed solely at cracking the 300 mph barrier and establishing itself as one of the fastest production cars ever (watch out Bugatti). In March 2020, Koenigsegg launched its first four-seater. It is called the Gemera. Limited to 300 units, it promises a spacious interior, modern creature comforts and proper hypercar performance.<\/span><\/p>\n It\u2019s going to be a busy year for Koenigsegg. The Regera production is still ongoing and customer deliveries of the Jesko are expected to start sometime in Spring. The Gemera is continuing production in 2024, with the first cars having delivered to customers starting in late 2023. On December 31 2021, Koenigsegg teased with a Facebook post about an upcoming hypercar, shown only in silhouette. That car was later revealed to be the CC850, a special production run that combined the shape and style of the original CC cars with the modern carbon fiber and mechanical prowess of the Swedish company. As Christian von Koenigsegg himself stated, it’s akin to a band putting out a greatest hits album, except recording the songs all over again for the new release.
