For noted advertising photographer to the Big Three and vintage racer Mark Harmer, this fantasy came true over several months as he documented some of the most interesting items in the heralded collection for this coffee table book, Driving America: The Henry Ford\u00a0 Automotive Collection.<\/p>\n<p>For the reader, this heavy tome offers the chance to get lost in more than 300 large, detailed pictures of everything from an 1865 Roper (the oldest known surviving American car) to Jimmy Clark&#8217;s Indy 500-winning Lotus 38-Ford.\u00a0The Ford Museum, in its first major publication, celebrating Henry Ford&#8217;s 150th birthday, wanted to explore the significance of each vehicle in the collection and its impact on transportation in America. This book is not just about Fords, as the collection\u2019s scope goes way beyond its own manufacturing. It is more of a look at transportation history, its trends, innovations and changes.<\/p>\n<p>With comments from photographer Harmer, Introduction by Edsel B.
