1921 Ballot 3\/8 LC<\/h1>\n

Ballot was formed by Edouard Ballot who built engines for many different manufacturers. In 1919, he and Ernest Henry, an ex-peugeot engineer, sketched out the designs for a new racecar.<\/span><\/p>\n

Heri, a prevous Peugeot enginer, was comissioned by Ballot to build the upcoming Grand Prix car. The result was a car which lended many features off the 1914 4.5 litre Peugeots.<\/p>\n

One entirely new apect of the Ballot GRand Prix was its use of servo assist for botht he front and rear brakes. This setup was used by Henri under license from Hispano Suiza who developed the technology in 1919.<\/p>\n

The engine found in the car, was very special, having twin overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder. It was 3-liters in capacity which enabled Ballot to race the Indianaapolis 500. During the 1920 Indainapolis, all three Ballots finished placing second, fifth and seventh.<\/p>\n

In 1921 a different version of this car was raced at the 1921 Frend Grand prix. The car ran well and scored a respectable second place behind a SOHC Duesenberg. In the same year the Ballot took its greatest GP victory, a first place at the Italien Grand Prix in Brescia.<\/p>\n
