2006 Carbontech Redback Spyder<\/h1>\n

Carbontech is the latest smalltime manufacturer daring enough to enter the difficult Supercar market. They have built their first Redback Spyder in a hanger outside Melbourne and it resembles nothing short of a racecar. However, the Redback is sold as a complete, turnkey car that is being made with compliance to Australian regulations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Each Carbontech is built around a steel spaceframe which can be adopted to a number of drive trains. As a basic configuration, Carbontech can equip a Redback with a 450 bhp Chevrolet LS1 powering the rear wheels though a Getrag gearbox for $250K AUD or $185 000 USD.<\/p>\n

Considering the race-bred engineering, like the adjustable inboard suspension and carbon fiber body and tight interior space this Spyder is probably limited to a track day excursions much like the Ulima GTR, Ariel Atom and Radical SR3.<\/p>\n

Redback designer Nick Tomkinson drove the car for the first time to the 2006 Melbourne Motor Show. It will make the rounds at all the major Australian shows and Tomkinson is hoping that he can secure five orders before regular production commences.<\/p>\n

One of the first Redback’s dropped by in California and the US Market is being seriously considered for future sales.<\/p>\n
