The Chevelle was among the Corvette and Camaro which got the potent 427 this way<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Built on standard Chevelle platforms, the car had Malubu interior and normal badges because it was not based on the SS model. Instead it was a no-frills package that included several manditory performance options<\/p>\n<p>The COPO 9562 included a heavy duty suspension, heavy duty radiator, 12-bolt rear limited slip differential, F70x15 &#8216;white letter&#8217; tires, bucket seats, and AM push button radio. Additionally, customers were forced to buy the L72 engine and powered from disc brakes.<\/p>\n<p>Customers could order either the Rock Crusher 4-speed Manual or a strengthened Turbo Hydra-matic.<\/p>\n<p>In total around 323 COPO Chevelles were built. Some<\/p>\n<p>At their 2008 Scottsdale, Arizona sale, Barrett-Jackson auctioned this car for $140,000 USD. The description was <i>&#8220;1 of 3 Canadian COPO cars that are accounted for. This one has full documentation including Build Sheet, Protect-O-Plate and confirmation from dealership regarding the special high-performance equipment. It has been featured in 3 major magazines. This COPO is a Chevy Fest Gold Spinner Concours Award winner. It is matching numbers complete with &#8220;CX&#8221; Code HD Turbo 400 transmission and G80 posi-traction rear end. The car is Frost Green with green interior. It has a bench seat, a 427\/425hp engine and automatic transmission. Originally ordered with Super Sport wheels.
