Max Crawford, along with his wife Jan, created Crawford & Crawford Composites, Inc. in 1988 to fill a need for engineered high-quality parts for sports car racing. Crawford Composites was the first American privately owned, non-aerospace company to build a complete carbon fiber composite car in 1990, the Mazda RX7-92P that competed in the IMSA series. This led Crawford to start a new business, called Crawford Race Cars, to focus on building complete cars. <\/span><\/p>\n

Crawford Race Cars completed the in house design and production of their first prototype sportscar, the Crawford SSC2K to run in the 2002 Rolex Sports Car Series. To accommodate ith the Daytona Prototype rules that took effect in 2003, Crawford built the DP03, and was the third constructor to recieve approval for the Daytona Prototype class.<\/p>\n

Since then, Crawford Race Cars has become one of the premiere chassis manufacturers in the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series and placed second in the recently completed 2004 season point standings in the Daytona Prototype category. Led by the #2 CITGO and #4 BOSS Snowplow Teams of Howard-Boss Motorsports, Crawford Race Cars scored three wins and eight podium finishes during the \u00e2\u0080\u009904 Rolex Sports Car season with the DP03. Five Crawford Daytona Prototype DP03 cars competed in the Rolex Sports Car Series during the 2004 season.<\/p>\n
