Ferrari Dino 246 GTS<\/h2>\n

At the 1972 Geneva Motor Show, Ferrari released an open-top version of the Dino 246 called the GTS. Over 1200 examples were produced over a two year period.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 246 GTS had a removable roof panel similar to the 1967 Porsche 911 Targa. Both these cars copied the idea from the Surrey-Top Triumph TR4 which was the first to use such a panel.<\/p>\n

The Dino line was created in honor of Enzo Ferrari’s son Alfredo Ferrari who was championing the V6 engine before his untimely death. The series began with a number of 206 sport prototypes and eventually the 246 road cars.<\/p>\n

One of the ultimate specification Dinos was altered to accept 7\u00bd-inch wide Campagnolo wheels. These Chairs and Flares cars featured Group 4-inspired wheel arches and seats from the 365 GTB\/4 Daytona.<\/p>\n

1973 Dino 246 GTS 05024 <\/a>– sold for \u20ac369,520<\/b> This pretty Dino 246 GTS was delivered new to the USA in 1973. As was often the case with models destined for the American market, it was equipped with air conditioning as an option. In sound original condition, it was brought to Italy to join the collection of Norberto Ferretti, creator of the eponymous yacht company, and passionate about art and exceptional automobiles. It was then fully restored, retaining the lovely and original ‘Giallo Flly’ colour, with black interior. Since this work was carried out, the car has only covered a little over 3000 km, and the odometer reads 5859 km. It has its original engine and at the end of the restoration it was certified by Ferrari and will be sold with its Classiche Ferrari “Certificato di autenticit\u00e0”. The car still has the air conditioning system, which has been serviced, and electric windows.<\/p>\n

1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS 07724<\/a> – sold for $302,500<\/b> We hear the term \u201csurvivor\u201d often these days, and no better word can describe this fine Dino Ferrari. Even the mouse hair dashboard is original, an element that very often gets replaced on the best of cars. Very few Bianco Dinos with Daytona seats were produced, and this will surely be among the most original of those that survive in their original specification\u2014a 246 GTS that allows one to see an example much as it was when it left the factory. As the Dino continues to grow in popularity, even exceeding the values of many Daytona coupes of its era, the demand for these great cars never seems to waiver. This particular car should be looked at as a rare opportunity to acquire an unaltered version of this highly desirable Ferrari. When looking at an unrestored car like this, one must remember: \u201cthey are only original once.\u201d

1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS Barn Find with 2,910 miles<\/a> – sold for $270,000<\/b> One of the first Ferrari experts to inspect this barn-find 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS described it without hesitation as \u201cthe finest original example on Earth.\u201d In fact, with just 2,900 miles on the odometer after sitting in storage for over thirty years, the car shows barely a hint of the decades that have passed since it last saw the road and required very little to return it to perfect readiness. Citing some of the details that reveal a\u00a0car\u2019s secrets to the practiced eye, the cadmium- and zinc-plated components show none of the deterioration that normally happens over time, and the nylon ties used to secure undercarriage lines and hoses, normally yellowed and dried out over the years, are still fresh and white, looking like they were just installed.<\/p>\n

Unlike most barn finds, the Dino also holds a treasure trove of documentation in the form of the original buyer\u2019s order and sales contract from Luigi Chinetti Motors, Inc., complete manuals, the original dusting cloth and the complete original toolkit, all in an astonishingly well-preserved example, the likes of which we may never see again.

Ferrari Dino 246 GTS<\/a> – sold for \u20ac129,734<\/b> Our racing red Dino GTS, registered in Paris on 26 June 1975, is a superb example, and the best version for driving in sunny weather! It has a typically ’70s imitation black leather and brown velvet interior. When acquired by its current owner in 1992, the car had non-original elements (like outsize speakers) and its engine was not working perfectly. Franck (the collection’s mechanic) was thus instructed to give it a complete overhaul. The ‘matching number’ engine was entirely dismantled, the cylinder-heads adapted for unleaded petrol, the pistons re-reamed, and the guides, valves, clutch, water-pump, Dinoplex, distribution chains, and braking and cooling systems either replaced or restored as new. The door fittings are also new, as are the electric windows, and the carpet has been replaced. The result: a very fine car with a landmark design and in excellent mechanical repair.
