Naturally a HEMI engine was offered and it became the ultimate version.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Like all 1970 Coronets, the R\/T received a split-grill and double headlights which distinguished the year. Specific to the R\/T model were scoops on the hood and rear fender. Performance upgrades included a heavy-duty suspension and the big-block engines. Optional features included a Rallye instrument cluster, four-speed transmission, High Performance Axle Group, a Sure-Grip Differential and the Air Scoop Ram Charger Hood.<\/p>\n<p>The Coronet was offered in some high-impact colors including Plum Crazy, Sublime Lime, Go-Mango, Hemi Orange and Banana Yellow.<\/p>\n<p>1970 was the final year for Coronet HEMI production and 2,319 were made that Coronet \u201cHemi\u201d R\/T Hardtop is painted in its original Plum Crazy color and as ordered has no racing stripe. The typical-of-the-time color is further highlighted by its brilliant chrome. Inside, the white vinyl interior further enhances the look of this \u201cHemi\u201d R\/T Hardtop. Yet, although a definite \u201clooker\u201d, it is what is under the hood that most enthusiasts get really excited about. True \u2013 the smooth running, powerful 426 cubic inch V8 engine is beautifully detailed, but it is the rumble of that Hemi that will bring a broad smile to everyone\u2019s face.<\/p>\n<div id=\"example\">\n<p>At the 1997 Mopar Nationals in Indianapolis, Indiana this fine example scored an impressive 1923 points out of a possible 2000 and was awarded a highly-prized Gold Certificate. This certificate and many more documents including the original bill of sale accompany the Hemi R\/T in the sale.<\/p>\n<p>According to a research document from the Chrysler Historical Collection, 1970 was the last year for the Dodge Coronet R\/T hardtops and only 2,319 were built. Out of that low figure just thirteen Hemi hardtops were built and only four hardtops came equipped with the Hemi engine and a four-speed transmission.
