The Le Mans Replica is the most highly regarded Frazer Nash and one of iconic immediate-post war cycle-fender designs. In many was it was British-produced version of the pre-war BMW 328.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dennis Jenkinson described the model’s name: “In 1949 one of (their new cars) finished third at Le Mans. This prompted Frazer Nash to name the model the Le Mans Replica, and it was in production for four years, about fifty being built.<\/p>\n

In its day it was a good yardstick for performance, for it would do well over 120mph and cover a standing-start quarter-mile in 16 seconds. It handled well and apart from being a good road car it was a very successful racing car in its day, being sold ‘ready to race’ in anything from the Targa Florio to a Goodwood Club meeting”<\/p>\n

The post-war Frazer Nashs made use of the Bristol six-cylinder engine which was similar to the 328. Infact, one of the very first post-war Frazer Nash models was little more than a rebodied BMW 328. Around this time, H.J. Aldington persuaded 328 designer, Fritz Fiedler to come to England and assist with production of the Bristol engine.<\/p>\n
