{"id":196974,"date":"2016-04-18T00:24:46","date_gmt":"2016-04-18T00:24:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.supercars.net\/blog\/?p=196974"},"modified":"2024-12-27T12:52:35","modified_gmt":"2024-12-27T12:52:35","slug":"1954-maserati-250s","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/1954-maserati-250s\/","title":{"rendered":"1954 Maserati 250S"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>1954 Maserati 250S<\/h1>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/maserati\/\">Maserati<\/a> 250F was a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/tag\/race-car\">racing car<\/a> made by Maserati used in 2.5 litre Formula One racing between January 1954 and November 1960.<span id=\"more-5926\"><\/span> The 250F principally used the SSG 220 hp (@ 7400 rpm) 2.5-litre Maserati A6 straight-six, ribbed 13.4\u2033 drum brakes, wishbone independent front suspension and a De Dion tube axle. Gioacchino Colombo, Vittorio Bellentani and Alberto Massimino built the 250F and the tubular work was by Valerio Colotti. Twenty-six examples were made.<\/p>\n<p>The most famous Maserati 250F victory came at the hands of Juan Manuel Fangio at the 1957 German Grand Prix.\u00a0With the victory, Fangio claimed his fifth Formula One title and his performance is often regarded as the greatest drive in Formula One history.<\/p>\n<p>The 250F principally used the SSG 220 bhp (@ 7400 rpm) 2.5-litre Maserati A6 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/tag\/inline-6\">straight-six engine<\/a>, ribbed 13.4&#8243; drum brakes, wishbone independent front suspension and a De Dion tube axle.
