The smart folks at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/maserati\/\">Maserati<\/a>\u00a0took their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/1933-maserati-8cm\/\">Maserati\u00a08CM<\/a>, made some adjustments and bingo, they were ready to go.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, when we say &#8220;adjustments&#8221;, that meant major work and the replacement of the 3L\u00a0straight eight with a new straight six engine. Based on the\u00a02.5-litre <a href=\"http:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/1933-maserati-4cm-2000\/\">4C 2500 <\/a>engine, the new straight six\u00a0was 3.3 litres (quickly grew to 3.7 litres) and featured twin overhead camshaft and two valves per cylinder, coupled with a Roots-type supercharger. Power came in at 270 bhp.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/maserati\/\">Maserati<\/a> built four more 6C 34s and also supplied one engine for a customer, who already had an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/1933-maserati-8cm\/\">Maserati\u00a08CM<\/a>. Success was very limited, with the car particularly hampered by the conventional chassis, whereas the rivals were running independent front (and rear) suspension.<\/p>\n<p>Maserati did not pursue this avenue any further as the attention switched to the new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/1935-maserati-v8ri\/\">V8RI<\/a>, which featured a new V8 engine and an independently sprung
