2004 Maserati MC12 Competizione<\/h1>\n

On January 12th 2004, Fiorano saw the track debut of the Maserati’s new racecar to take part in the FIA GT championships. The car, which was released as project code name of MCC and later raced as the MC12, was be launched at the forthcoming International Geneva Motor Show, alongside the its road going ccounterpart of which it is closely derived.<\/span><\/p>\n

The two cars were designed in a joint operation between the Maserati engineers and those of the Modena company’s racing department under the technical direction of engineer, Giorgio Ascanelli.<\/p>\n

‘This is a very important programme for Maserati, which the Racing Department has tackled with great enthusiasm ,’ stated Gestione Sportiva Managing Director, Jean Todt. ‘Today, we have witnessed the MCC’s track debut and as usual on these occasions, it was a really emotional moment .’<\/p>\n

The MC12 has carbon fibre construction which offers a low weight of 1100 kgs. A 620 horsepower V12, displacing 5998 cc sits in the center of this chassis. This setup has been completing 1:12 times around the Forano Circuit. Compare this to the Enzo which achieves 1:22 on a good day, and with street tires.<\/p>\n

2006 Maserati MC12 22797<\/a> – did not sell for \u20ac875,000\u00a0<\/strong>The MC12 offered here, C10, was used by the Milanese racing team Scuderia Playteam in international motorsports competition. Contributing to the team\u2019s position as a frontrunner among the GT elite, the MC12 won the Italian GT Championship in 2006, securing 12 wins and two second places in the season\u2019s eight rounds. Team owner and experienced racing driver Giambattista Giannoccaro was joined by Toni Vilander, who first raced in 2006 for AF Corse in Dubai, securing the GT2 title with Jaime Melo. Joined by Dirk M\u00fcller in a Ferrari 430, Vilander became the first Finn to win an FIA GT title. Together Giannoccaro and Vilander put forth a truly remarkable effort in the Italian GT Championship, despite the team\u2019s relative lack of experience. Vilander repeatedly built enormous leads in the capable Maserati, all the while setting numerous fast laps and keeping the team at the front of the pack race after race.<\/p>\n

Today, C10\u2019s engine adheres to 2006 specifications and is upgradable to 2008 specifications. Aerodynamically, the E2 front splitter is also upgradable to E3, as is the rear wing. While the steering wheel adheres to 2007 specifications, the Sparco racing seat is the latest release and the car further benefits from Sachs BT16 shock absorbers and a 24-hour kit that includes specific electronics, fast locks for refilling the oil in the engine, gearbox and clutch, as well as a 24-hour pipes kit. Overall, the car is reportedly in pristine condition, having recently been displayed at a major motorsports exhibition in Italy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
