2005 Pilbeam MP93<\/h1>\n

The new MP93 prototype was made in preparation for the 2005 24 Hours of Le Mans and for the new LMP2 regulations.<\/span><\/p>\n

The MP93 features a completely new carbon chassis designed to make best use of the new structural and aerodynamic rules as set out by the FIA and ACO. This could give it a decisive edge in assuring its long term competitiveness in the prestigious class of endurance racing, both in Europe and America.<\/p>\n

The new structural requirements, even higher than F1 in some areas, will give great confidence to teams and drivers compared to the older designs. Lessons learned in the previous MP84 and MP91 sports cars have been developed even further through wind tunnel testing which continues through the season as Pilbeam staff work closely with PIR and others to maintain their excellent record.<\/p>\n

Especially pleasing is the weight, which comes in at 724 kg, 26 kg under the class minimum. This means ballast can be used to optimise handling or to make further improvements as testing goes on.<\/p>\n
