In 1958, Mercedes-Benz updated their 220 S with the inclusion of mechanical fuel injection. Thus the new 220 SE benefited from increased power to 137 bhp.<\/span><\/p>\n

Internally, the injection cabriolets were known by bodycode W128 with the engine code M127.983. From October 1958 to November 1960 the 1,112 Cabriolets were produced alongside the Coupe and Sedan.<\/p>\n

Unlike the Sedan, the 220 Cabriolet and Sedan were produced by the Sindelfingen factory.<\/p>\n

1958 Mercedes-Benz 220 SE ‘Ponton’ Cabriolet 128.30-10-003320<\/a> – sold for \u20ac104,650<\/p>\n

This 220 SE cabriolet was delivered new to Guatemala, remaining there until 1983 when it was sold to a Mr Alvaro Vilela in Portugal where it would remain until 2014. Five years later the car passed to Mr Jose Rodolfo Brandao, who kept it for the next 17 years before selling it to Dr Fernando Manuel Campos, its owner up to 2014. In 2005 the Mercedes was used on the ‘XXIV Rali Automoveis Antigos’ in Portugal.<\/p>\n

This 220 SE has covered only 74,800 kilometres from new and retains its original interior trim, woodwork (repaired) and Becker radio, and even its original spare wheel, incredibly with the original warranty sticker still attached! Maintenance stickers in the door record services at 57,000 and 60,000 kilometres. Boasting a mohair convertible hood, the car is finished in brown with beige interior and is described by the vendor as in generally good condition. Offered with instruction manual, Portuguese title and a good history file, it represents a wonderful opportunity to acquire a rare and much sought-after soft-top Mercedes-Benz.<\/div>\n
