Two JRs showed up for the 1953 edition of the race, but both retired.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A radical departure from the previous cycle-fender roadsters, the JR used an all-enveloping body that helped it achieve a top speed of 145.35 mph down the Mulsanne Straight at Le Mans.<\/p>\n<p>Our feature car is chassis 3403 was driven by Zora Arkus Duntov and Ray Merrick at Le Mans and retired at 1am with engine failure.
