1953 Allard JR<\/h1>\n

The JR was a specially prepared version of the J2X that was made of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Two JRs showed up for the 1953 edition of the race, but both retired.<\/span><\/p>\n

A radical departure from the previous cycle-fender roadsters, the JR used an all-enveloping body that helped it achieve a top speed of 145.35 mph down the Mulsanne Straight at Le Mans.<\/p>\n

Our feature car is chassis 3403 was driven by Zora Arkus Duntov and Ray Merrick at Le Mans and retired at 1am with engine failure. Later the car was shipped to the United States and used in SCCA races.<\/p>\n
