Of course in the 1990s that meant at least one of the \u201cracing\u201d cars had to be road legal. Cue the Lotus GT1.<\/p>\n<p>The Lotus Elise GT1 utilized a production aluminum chassis with custom carbon fiber body that was optimized for endurance racing. Out went the Elise\u2019s inline-four, swapped for a monster twin-turbo 6.0-liter version of the C4 Corvette\u2019s LT5 V8. Reliability proved to be a problem for all seven chassis that were built, with the best success being a fifth place at Helsinki.<\/p>\n<figure class='gallery-item'>\r\n            <div
