2001 Saleen S7 Prototype<\/h1>\n

In 2001, Saleen debuted their S7 supercar at the 2001 Monterey Historic Races and subsequently at the Pebble Beach Concours. This was the very first completed S7 and was made by Ray Mallock Ltd, who did most of the engineering and design for the car in the UK. <\/span><\/p>\n

At the time there were very little American supercars on the market and Steve Saleen changed this trend. Later versions of the car would be twin-turbocharged in 2004 and they would also participate in sports car racing in ACO, FIA and ALMS events.<\/p>\n

The first silver S7, chassis 001 was retained by the factory and sold at the 2002 Barrett-Jackson auto auction. It was sold on a bill of sale only for $432,000 USD. It was described as “‘The’ original Saleen S7 Prototype which heralded the S7 road & S7R race cars.” A “200 MPH car features A 550 HP, 7 liter engine, capable OF 0 – 60 in under 4 seconds.”<\/p>\n
