{"id":256432,"date":"2016-04-23T06:44:35","date_gmt":"2016-04-23T06:44:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.supercars.net\/blog\/?p=256432"},"modified":"2024-05-09T21:16:57","modified_gmt":"2024-05-09T21:16:57","slug":"2008-subaru-impreza-wrx-sti","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/2008-subaru-impreza-wrx-sti\/","title":{"rendered":"2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI<\/h1>\n<p><span id=\"intelliTXT\">Subaru has finally released detailed pictures of its range-topping new Impreza WRX STI which debuts at the 40th Tokyo Motor Show at the end of October.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This follows the recent release of a moody studio shot which gave very little away apart from highlighting the turbocharged car\u2019s substantially wider body.<\/p>\n<p>Developed by a dedicated team of performance-loving engineers, the new WRX STI features big blistered wheelarches for a ground-hugging stance.<\/p>\n<p>Technical details will remain under wraps until Subaru\u2019s press conference on Wednesday, October 24 at 11.50 am at the Subaru Booth where President Ikuo Mori will make a presentation.<\/p>\n<h4>&#8212;&#8211;<\/h4>\n<h4>Concept<\/h4>\n<p>The new WRX STI was developed with the eternal theme and essence of the driver&#8217;s car, the total driving control,<br \/>\nthat the preceding WRX STI models also pursued. This AWD sports model<\/p>\n<p>gives maximum driving pleasure through its combination of power, performance, handling and ride capabilities thanks to engineering exclusively designed for the WRX STI and its five-door package. It also balances excellent safety and environmental aspects at a high level.<\/p>\n<h4>Styling<\/h4>\n<p>Using a new five-door body style developed from the Impreza model, the new Impreza WRX STI displays a powerful design language that speaks directly to its performance credentials, integrating function and beauty. Adopting shortened front and rear overhangs, a longer wheelbase and widened body flares, the Impreza WRX STI clearly embodies driving performance in dynamic exterior design that delivers as overwhelming presence and beauty.<\/p>\n<h4>Performance<\/h4>\n<p>The new Horizontally-Opposed 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo charged engine was developed exclusively for the new WRX STI. By further improving the basic performance of the engine, and mating it to SI-DRIVE (SUBARU Intelligent Drive), the WRX STI offers not only outright performance as might be expected, but also delivers excellent handling under extreme as well as normal driving conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Featuring Subaru&#8217;s unique Symmetrical AWD and specially developed in-house 6-speed manual transmission as its base technologies, multi mode DCCD* and VDC**, which control traction and stability more precisely, have also been added to WRX STI. To complete its performance credentials, the evolved chassis by \u201cSubaru Dynamic Chassis Control Concept\u201d has dramatically improved road-hugging capability and will provide exhilaration and
