2000 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Le Mans<\/h1>\n

To end the V8 Vantage series and celebrate their achievements at Le Mans Aston Martin released this edition at the 1999 Geneva Motor Show. It included the capable V600 engine upgrade and new panels that distinguished it as the best of its kind. Only 40 were made and sold exclusively in Europe, however a few have made it overseas with American ‘Show and Display’ laws. <\/span><\/p>\n

Available with a choice of either a 550 or 600 horsepower twin supercharged 5.3 litre Aston Martin V8 engine had almost three times the power output of the six cylinder Le Mans winning DBR1. With the optional V600 engine upgrade it uses 2 Roots-type Eaton M90 superchargers to produced 600 bhp and 600 ft lbs of torque. This means the Le Mans Vantage has the potential to exceed 200mph and reach 100mph in less than 10 seconds.<\/p>\n

The V8 Vantage Le Mans is equipped with magnesium alloy wheels together with the special brake, steering and suspension systems which are fitted to all 600 horsepower models of the Vantage. The car features a unique air vent behind the wheel that “was directly inspired by the Le Mans-winning DBR1”<\/i>1<\/sup><\/p>\n

The interior of the LeMans reflects the competition heritage of the company and is a development of the scheme previewed with the Project Vantage concept car during 1998. It has drilled bright metal brake, clutch and accelerator pedals and a machined aluminium knob fitted to the gear lever. The traditional wood veneers which are used for the instrument panel, centre console and door trim panels were replaced by Titanium finish panels together with a magnolia-faced instrument display which is dominated by the enlarged tachometer and the engine start button. Other amenities included Wilton carpets and Connolly leather upholstery.<\/p>\n

Only 40 cars were produced with a selling price of \u00a3190,130. For \u00a343,000 Aston Martin sold the V600 engine upgrade raised power to 600 bhp. All 40 Le Mans cars were painted in Racing Green and directions to Le Mans were included in the owner’s manual1<\/sup><\/p>\n
