Pebble Beach Concours<\/h1>\n

First held in 1950, the Pebble Beach Concours d\u2019Elegance is widely regarded as the premier event for classic\u00a0car enthusiasts. Each year, the\u00a0event draws the automotive elite to one of the most scenic spots on earth to see the world\u2019s most prized collector cars.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance<\/a> is held annually in Monterey, California and is considered by car\u00a0enthusiasts everywhere to be one of the\u00a0most exciting events<\/a> on the car-world calendar.\u00a0The first Pebble Beach Concours d\u2019Elegance was held in\u00a01950\u00a0and the event has been going strong ever since then.\u00a0It is the finale of Monterey Car Week <\/a>held in August every year.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0first\u00a0Pebble Beach Concours d\u2019Elegance was held in conjunction with the first Pebble Beach Road Race where Phil Hill won\u00a0the Road Race driving a Jaguar XK120<\/a>. Best of Show that year went to a 1950 Edwards R-26 Special Sport Roadster.<\/p>\n

The event is open to both prewar and postwar collector cars in which they are judged for authenticity, function, history, and style.\u00a0Classes are commonly arranged by type, marque (manufacturer), coachbuilder, country of origin, or time period. Judges select first-, second-, and third-place finishers for each class in the event. Of the various awards given at the car show, the most significant is Best of Show.<\/p>\n

Since 1950, Pebble Beach has been host to the finest exhibition of show cars in the world – Newsday<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Winning a class blue ribbon is an honor that takes both an amazing\u00a0car, and equally serious determination and money by owners. It is not unusual for owners to invest several million dollars to get\u00a0a \u201c100-point\u201d car. Thousands of spectators converge on the 18th fairway of the Pebble Beach golf course each year\u00a0to see the parade of prestigious, invitation-only competition vie for one of the most coveted awards in the car business – the Best of Show.<\/p>\n

The most awarded manufacturers aren’t surprising, with\u00a0Rolls-Royce<\/a>, Bugatti<\/a>,\u00a0Duesenberg<\/a>,\u00a0Mercedes-Benz<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Packard<\/a>\u00a0having won many times over the years.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Pebble Beach Concours Class Winners<\/h2>\n

The invitation only\u00a0Pebble Beach Concours is stacked with award winning-worthy cars. 2015 alone saw\u00a0more than 200 automotive classics roll up to the 18th hole of the famed Pebble Beach Golf Links to wow the car-loving audience and try to win\u00a0awards under categories like ‘Elegance Awards’, ‘Special Awards’ and ‘Class Awards’. While those awards are nice, the most important is the ‘Best of Show’ – the event\u2019s top award. It is the ultimate goal for every collector.<\/p>\n

The Pebble Beach Concours d\u2019Elegance judging process has two components: Class Judges focus primarily on originality and authenticity, while Honorary Judges direct their attention to design, styling and elegance. Cars that win their class become eligible to win Best of Show.<\/p>\n

First, Second and Third in Class Winners are selected by Class Judges based on originality, authenticity, and proper and excellent preservation or restoration. Class Awards, representing the spirit of the Concours, are sculptures created from the Pebble Beach Concours Trophy.<\/p>\n

Best of Show is chosen via\u00a0a simple tally of the independent and secret ballots cast by the Chairman, Chairman Emeritus, Chief Judge, Chief Honorary Judge, Chief Class Judges, Honorary Judge Team Leaders, and selected Class Judges. The Best of Show Trophy is perpetual and is maintained at Pebble Beach, but the winner is presented with a Lalique Trophy and other mementos. The final nominees for Best of Show are also recognized.<\/p>\n
