We\u2019ve got used to seeing 0-60mph times in the three-second range in the supercar world, but it\u2019s still mildly surprising to see the Volante\u2019s figure quoted as 3.7sec.<\/p>\n<p>Vanquish Zagato Volante is the latest creation from a collaboration that reaches back over nearly six decades, beginning with the beautifully muscular <a href=\"http:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/1961-aston-martin-db4-gt-zagato\/\">DB4 GT Zagato<\/a> race car of 1960 and includes the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/2003-aston-martin-db7-vantage-zagato-coupe\/\">DB7 Vantage Zagato<\/a> of 2002, 2011\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/2011-aston-martin-v12-vantage-zagato-prototype\/\">V12 Vantage Zagato<\/a> and the most recent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/official-aston-martin-vanquish-zagato\/\">Vanquish Zagato Coupe <\/a>announced earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>Styling is broadly similar to that of the coupe \u2013 it features the same slim headlamps and enlarged front grille (complete with ring-shaped LED daytime running lights), with even more pronounced haunches than we\u2019ve seen in regular production Astons.<\/p>\n<p>New is the Volante\u2019s roofline, or more accurately the absence of one. As a convertible the car does lose one signature Zagato touch, namely a double-bubble roof. But the result is if anything even more pert than that of the coupe and distinctly different from Aston Martin\u2019s own rumps.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cJust like the Coupe, we have emphasised the way surfaces change and intersect to create a muscular form. Developed as an open-topped Zagato-bodied DB7 and also limited to 99 units, DB AR1 was similarly designed for the North American market and is considered today an established collectible by automotive connoisseurs worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>The Vanquish Zagato Volante will be a powerful addition to the Aston Martin and Zagato lineage, embodying Aston Martin&#8217;s inherent refinement and capabilities, as well as Zagato&#8217;s characteristic design details.
